Got a rat issue?

Rats are nocturnal and typically avoid humans by hiding. The following are typical indications of a rat problem at home:

Rats leave behind dark, tapering droppings 10–14 mm long.

Rats have a distinct odor akin to ammonia and are more noticeable in enclosed spaces like under cabinets.

Bite marks: Rats bite on wood and plastic to keep their constantly growing teeth in check. By gnawing through cables, rats have been known to start fires.

Rats will tear open food packaging, sometimes leaving tooth imprints.

Nests: Rats use shredded newspaper and fabric to construct their nests, which they conceal in warm areas. Young rats are frequently found in nests.

Rats will dig tunnels in gardens, particularly in compost piles or under sheds. Additionally, they’ll create nests beneath garden decking.

Smears:  accumulation of grease and filth from the rat’s fur, frequently found on walls and other surfaces where rats travel.
